Project Type: UI/UX Design

Design Problem: If given the right incentives, urban residents will help create healthier cities by growing and selling fresh produce from their homes. Consumers will be willing to buy locally, since the produce is fresher and healthier.

Often urban residents do not take advantage of the green spaces in their residences. They tend to not grow fruits or vegetables, since there is no easy way of selling the extra produce. Consequently, there are no alternatives but to buy groceries from stores. Health conscious consumers have no choice but to pay exorbitant prices for organic and sustainably produced groceries.
This is especially the case for rarer produce that is not easily available. By creating an online market place (think airbnb) for groceries, we create a new ecosystem where urban residents are promoted to create and sell fresh produce to their neighbors.

Process: I followed a fairly structured and iterative design process. The first step was to understand user behavior and create user personas to help guide the design process. Given the nature of the app’s peer-to-peer nature, I focused on security and anonymity. I took inspiration from successful applications - airbnb, uberEats, target to understand a standard checkout experience.
This was followed by customer journey maps, story maps & user flows to help communicate a typical user’s happy path and the step they need to achieve their goals. Tweaks were made as I further understood the work required and prioritized core features. This was followed by creating paper prototypes & low-mid fidelity prototypes. This step helped expose usability issues and logical loopholes which were ironed out before creating high fidelity prototypes.
The work was predominantly done in Figma and I used ant design UI kit which was customized with Future Farm’s brand identity colors. The final result was a high fidelity interactive prototype.

Final Solution: High fidelity prototypes available here.

Applications: Figma, Miro, Marvel/Pop
